Psychiatric Medication That's Carefully Managed — Not Just Prescribed

Dr. Clint Nacar, DNP, PMHNP-BC provides expert psychiatric medication management via telehealth across California. Starting and adjusting psychiatric medications requires ongoing monitoring — and that's exactly what we provide.

Can a Telehealth Provider Really Prescribe Psychiatric Medications?

Yes — and it's fully legal and clinically valid in California. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, Dr. Nacar holds full prescriptive authority and can prescribe, adjust, and manage the full range of psychiatric medications via telehealth.

California telehealth law permits complete psychiatric care — including prescriptions — without any requirement for an in-person visit. Your prescription is sent directly to your preferred pharmacy, just as it would be from any other provider.

What makes the difference isn't the technology — it's the relationship. Good medication management requires a provider who knows your history, tracks your response over time, and is willing to make adjustments thoughtfully. That's the standard at MindCare Innovations.

Medications We Manage

Dr. Nacar manages a full range of psychiatric medications across all major condition categories:

Antidepressants
SSRIs, SNRIs, Wellbutrin
Anti-anxiety medications
Buspar, hydroxyzine, select benzodiazepines
Mood stabilizers
Lithium, Lamictal, Depakote
Antipsychotics
Risperdal, Abilify, Seroquel, Latuda
ADHD medications
Stimulants and non-stimulants
Sleep medications
Trazodone, low-dose Seroquel

Note: Controlled substance prescriptions are subject to California telehealth prescribing regulations. Dr. Nacar will discuss your specific needs during your evaluation.

What Happens at a Follow-Up Appointment

Follow-up appointments are typically 20 minutes and are scheduled every 4–8 weeks depending on your stability and treatment needs. Here's what each visit covers:

  • Review how you've been feeling since your last appointment
  • Assess medication effectiveness and any side effects
  • Adjust dosage or switch medications if needed
  • Address any new symptoms or life changes
  • Refill prescriptions and coordinate with your pharmacy
  • Provide brief supportive therapy and lifestyle guidance

Dr. Nacar believes that medication and therapy work best together. Follow-up visits are never just prescription refills — they are meaningful check-ins that keep your treatment on track and responsive to your life.

Medication + Therapy — Under One Roof

Many patients see a prescriber for medications and a separate therapist for talk therapy — juggling two providers, two sets of appointments, and two separate treatment plans that don't always align.

At MindCare Innovations, Dr. Nacar provides both medication management and supportive therapy in the same relationship. Your treatment plan is integrated, cohesive, and built around the whole person — not just your symptoms.
